Calls of this nature have been received today in south Cumbria, and they are scams. The one we received was from 0131 367 7527 and it was an automated call claiming to be from/on behalf of BT saying there had been a problem with the internet due to some people accessing our identity and privacy, and press 1 to speak to a BT person or 2 to disconnect your internet altogether.
Don't get into a conversion with them, just hang up, and block the number on your handset if you can.
