CleanTalk anti-spam plugin for websites
« on: December 24, 2014, 05:45:30 PM »
It's been a while since we were so impressed by a piece of software, but we are giving a huge thumbs up for the cloud-based anti-spam plugin CleanTalk.

It works with most of the popular CMS and forum scripts, including...

Drupal   IP.Board   Joomla   Magento   MediaWiki   phpBB 3.1   phpBB3    Simple Machines Forum   vBulletin  WordPress   XenForo

As their strapline states, "No Captcha, no questions, no counting animals, no puzzles, no math. Fight spam!" It just works silently to stop rogue signups, spam comments and links, etc...  so from the customer point of view it is invisible. This makes website much more user-friendly and easier to use for those with disabilities, as CAPTCHAs and other security-type questions can cause access issues for many users.

It has cut our website spam and rogue signups down to zero, meaning that we can spend more time doing our job instead of cleaning out spammers from the website!

It is a paid-for plugin, but at the small cost it is well-worth the expenditure. The cost (in 2014) starts at $5 for one site for one year's spam protection. There are discounts for multiple sites, and time bonuses are available to signed-up users. To be honest, this worked so well in our 14-day trial period that after a mere 2 days of the trial we were convinced of its value, and have signed up for the year!

It's incredibly simple to install and set up, the documentation is clear and easy to follow, and the dashboard to monitor its performance is equally clear.  We are giving this 10/10 with a recommendation to anyone using webscripts to check it out.

If you sign up and pay using this referral link you will receive a 2-month free time bonus on top of your 1 year's protection (and we also get a 2-month bonus, but that's not why we are recommending it, it's just too good a service not to share!) http://cleantalk.org/?f=47078&t_code=9bNRjTcnxYaL

Cheers,
Anne, Board Admin
